Return of the #CastMe

Hey guys! After the first #CastMe post, I had a lot of interest from other kids about being involved in a future one, so I brought it back.

Essentially the idea is this: first, everyone who wants to be involved sends me a photo of themselves. Second, using a random generator, I send them a photo of someone else in the pool, with the mission to give me five musical theatre characters who they look like.  Third, they send those characters to me!

THEATRE HISTORY DREAMCASTING (5/5)

Hello, guys! Last day of break for me before I head back to Ohio and last day of my Theatre History Dreamcasting.

But before we get to that, this summer may be my last summer where I am in Arizona for the entire time. As a young woman getting ready to try and actually do this thing as a career, it is important for me to try to do internships and make connections outside of Arizona. So, if you're like "I really want to do something with AYAA over the summer!," talk to the theatre you work at and have them contact me at mackenna.azyoungactors@gmail.com and we can start planning something awesome!

Back to today, I have posted two articles about 25 Shows (Plays and Musicals) that everyone should know. For the past five weeks, I have been casting five of these shows and now it is time for the last five! Woohoo! All of these casts are done by me. Thanks for reading! :)

*NEW* AYAA Pool Dreamcasting: Little Shop of Horrors

Imagine...

You have a pool of auditioners made up of the brightest and most talented young actors and actresses from around the Phoenix area; performers who would normally not be able to perform together because of the distance between them. Now imagine a website created a year and a half ago by a weird teenage girl who now lives in Ohio, but has control issues and loves the website too much to give it up wants to hypothetically bring these kids together. Imagine she sends out of a list of people to create one combined cast list for a show about a man-eating plant.

AND YOU'D GET THIS!

Hello and welcome to the all new AUDITION POOL DREAMCASTING FROM AYAA!

I wanted to reconfigure our dreamcasting format by instead of presenting a bunch of disparate cast lists but to create ONE cast list for ONE show based on a bunch of opinions. Each person received the same list of actors and actresses to choose from––their fellow creators of the cast lists. They then had to choose from that list for an assigned set of characters from the musical.

This is a sort of preview post for this new series. The rest of them will start in February and continue through the beginning of May. This week I am proud to present our "definitive" cast of Little Shop of Horrors. It came from a pool of 45 actors from all over Arizona. I hope you enjoy it! And if you're like "hey, that's something I would like to be apart of!" shoot me a message of Facebook and I can get ya signed up!

To be clear, this is not a real show we are putting on. It's just a fun hypothetical thing we are doing on the website.

In the mean time, enjoy our cast of Little Shop of Horrors!

Little Shop of Horrors Cast

Created by the amalgamation of almost 40 cast lists from our peers

Seymour: Sam Primack (u/s: Brandon Brown)
Audrey: Summer Farnsworth (u/s: Hahnna Christianson)
Audrey II: Julian Mendoza (u/s: Danny Blankemeier)
Mr. Mushnik: Bryce Dilullo (u/s: Bailey Gorman)
Orin Scrivello (The Dentist): Spencer Claus (u/s: Noah Delgado)
Crystal: Sarah Pansing (u/s: Mackenna Goodrich)
Chiffon: Avery Strachan (u/s: Carly Copp)
Ronette: Lina Cappellano (u/s: Maddy Rathbun)
Ensemble: Summer Beckman, Danny Blankemeier, Brandon Brown, Hahnna Christianson, Carly Copp, Noah Delgado, Mackenna Goodrich, Bailey Gorman, Jacob Herrera, Grace Napoletano, Maddy Rathbun, Anson Romney

Hope you liked this preview episode of our new dreamcasting series! We have about 10 more awesome musicals coming your way. And make sure to contact me if you want to be involved. :)

Things Are Looking Up Here on Broadway!

So... Matilda closed. Something Rotten closed. The Color Purple is closing. Falsettos is closing. Jersey Boys is closing. Holiday Inn is closing. Oh, Hello is closing. It's a rough January.

However, fret not! There is a lot of great stuff coming up on Broadway this year. Last year, I went through some of the upcoming Broadway adaptations coming up. Today, I want to give a peak at what shows will be opening on Broadway this season. Please, go see Hamilton and enjoy the phenomenon, but support other shows on Broadway as well if you make it to New York this year.

This will include shows starting previews through March 31st. There are constantly shows opening and closing on Broadway. I want to provide a guide for the next few months. There are a ton of great shows opening this year and there is a chance I will provide more updates throughout the year.
