AYAA Dreamcasting: Spring Awakening

Hello, everybody! I am super duper pumped for today's dreamcasting. Spring Awakening is one of my favorite musicals and is considered the musical of my generation, so I love bringing it to this website. Spring Awakening is based on a 19th century German play and tells the story of teenagers uncovering their sexuality. Although set in late-19th-century Germany, the rock score and staging melds the two time periods -- then and now -- to show how the teenage experience has not changed dramatically over the past 150 years.

I reached out to a bunch different young actors in the Valley -- Vincent Pugliese, Grace Napoletano, Grace Lisicki, Summer Farnsworth, Spencer Claus, Benny Cowans, Ethan Shanker, Jake Bonar -- and asked them to dream cast Spring Awakening. Their responses and mine are below.

As a note, a couple of these kids were members of Spotlight's production of Spring Awakening. They avoided using actors and actresses from their casts, at least in the same roles.
