AYAA Quick Take: Listen Up Youth Theatres!

Hi, everyone! Recently, I contacted a bunch of young actors via Twitter and Facebook to find out what shows they would love to see a youth theatre do as a part of their next season. Their responses are below. Now, a lot of the shows contain adult content which may be why a lot of youth theatres have not done them already. However, I feel this list shows a range in content, style, dance requirements, etc. The shows in bold are the shows I heard multiple times. :)

42nd Street
Aida
All Shook Up
Avenue Q
Bare
Beauty and the Beast
Carrie
Catch Me If you Can
Cinderella
Crybaby
Ghost
Guys and Dolls
Heathers
Hello Dolly
History Boys
Hunchback of Notre Dame
In the Heights
Into the Woods
Jekyll and Hyde
Les Miserables
Little Shop of Horrors
Next to Normal
Peter and the Starcatcher
Pippin
Proof
Rent
School of Rock
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
She Kills Monsters
Spring Awakening
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
The Producers
Zombie Prom

My two cents: Owning a youth theatre is a really big dream in my life. So I just thought I would include some shows that I would love to see a youth theatre produce. Youth theatre is such an important part of my life (obviously -- I spend hours a week writing about it and talking to teenagers about theatre), so just thought I would share my feedback about what shows I think would be awesome at a youth theatre.
